*       When Cuba lost access to Soviet oil in the early 1990s, the country faced an immediate crisis   feeding the population   and an ongoing challenge: how to create a new low-energy society. This documentary tells the story of the Cuban people's hardship, ingenuity and triumph over sudden adversity   through cooperation, conservation and community, told in their own words. As the world approaches Peak Oil, Cuba provides a valuable example of how to successfully address the challenge of reducing our energy use.

"The best short history of Peak Oil that I have seen anywhere!"   Mark Franke.

Given the current job market, you want to have an edge over other candidates. Things you can do:

1. research the participating organizations and their job/internship opportunities;
2. have resumes that promote your relevant skills and qualifications;
3. practice what you'll say to employers that will make your candidacy stand out; and
4. dress professionally so employers will know that you are a serious candidate.

Stop by the Baltimore Room (near the Food Court) where you can ask a career advisor your questions about preparing for the Fall Career and Internship Fair, and get your resume critiqued.

MARYLAND POPULATION RESEARCH CENTER presents a seminar:

ROBERT M. HAUSER, Vilas Research Professor, Emeritus, Department of Sociology, Center for Demography of Health and Aging, University of Wisconsin-Madison

About the Talk: Many studies have found a positive relationship between cognitive ability, as measured in childhood or youth, and subsequent survival, and several explanations of this have been offered, ranging from the idea that low ability is an indicator of adverse systemic events in infancy or childhood to the idea that high cognitive functioning is required continuously to maintain health and reduce threats to survival.
