  1. Hello everyone,

My name is James Cowan and I am going to be an Orientation Adviser for the upcoming summer here in 2010.

Just to note about the importance of sustainability here at Maryland and how seriously we take it, we have consistently been one of the highest performing schools in the ACC when it comes to going green since 2008. It's not hard to make a difference in your time on campus and Maryland provides many things to help you do just that. One major thing I'd like to talk about is using reusable water bottles. As students we are often on the go and walking across campus can certainly make any terp thirsty, so it's obvious that there will be times where you will want to bring water along with you. Rather than using a brand new bottled water everytime, look into purchasing a reusable water bottle. They are very affordable, and will pay for themselves ten times over in the money you'll save from not buying bottled water. Small changes like this can really help the environment. Not only that but Maryland has placed numerous water bottle filling stations across campus including many with filtered water.

    Stay Green.
