Today marked the last day of classes for the school year. Student's rejoiced. Momentarily. Followed by the realization that after tomorrow's study day, finals ensue.
There are many resources to help students get the best grade possible. Below are some tips:
-Talk to your professors and TAs and get some tips on how to do well on your finals.
-Use your classmates to form study groups
-Contact the Office Of Multi-Ethnic Student Education for tutoring help
-Go to Easton Hall on most nights to get Math Success tutoring
-Go to the third floor of the S. Campus Dining hall to talk to the Learning Assistance Services Office.
The LAS office can help you with study skills, specific topic studying, time management and more.
-Reread your notes.
-Do your own research on the topic.
-Don't wait till the last minute.
Do some of these things and you can be sure to do well on your finals.
What other ways can you get help to make sure you do well in your classes?

Hi Everyone!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Evan McQuirns, I am a sophomore history major in the College of Arts and Humanities and will be an Orientation Advisor this summer. One hint that I learned when I study for finals is to definitely form study groups. What I do is at first I re-read through all of my notes, highlight important facts and write, for memory, a summary of the notes on that one page either on the margins or on a separate page. That way I study information that I have not seen in while and also start memorizing facts that I need for my exam. Good luck on finals!
Hi Terps!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Tori Shay and I am a sophomore Communication major in the College of Arts and Humanities and will be a new incoming Orientation Adviser! This week seems to be a busy week for tests! If you are like me, I have a hard time concentrating and McKeldin Library is not always the quietest place on this campus! If you need a quiet place to study try the Art-Soc building, CSPAC, or Van Munching. These buildings tend to be quiet but are still great for group study! Van Munching also has some great vending machines if you are looking for a snack! Study hard Terps!
Hello Everyone!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Emma Varner and I am a freshman Biochemistry major in the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences. I will be an Orientation Advisor this summer! I was so nervous last semester for my first finals week, but I learned some great study tips. A tool I use to study is to recopy my notes throughout the semester. Then, for finals week, I will make study sheets and recopy those. Writing the information down multiple times really helps. Also, a dry erase board is great for doing practice problems on. Last semester I used my board to study for both my calculus and chemistry finals. Not only is it environmentally friendly, but it makes studying more fun!
Good luck with finals and studying!
Hi! I’m David Todd, a rising-Senior Computer Science and Theatre Double major here. I also will be an Orientation Advisor for the Summer of 2011! If you are living in a shared space with other students, finding a good place to study is often difficult. On campus there are many quiet places to study, but my favorite has to be the Cambridge Community Center (CCC) located in the quad of the Cambridge Community.
ReplyDeleteThis location is connected to the North Campus Snack n’ Shop (a.k.a. “The Incon”) and has several classrooms which are usually relatively empty, and most importantly quiet, especially during finals week. These classrooms are open all day and at night RAs have access to them so you can ask an RA in the community to let you in if you need to study past 10pm.
I’ve found that the CCC is the optimal study spot because it has chalkboards if you need to explain something to a group of people, is next to the “Incon” so you can get coffee and snacks whenever you need it, and is a lot more quiet compared to the lounges in residence halls, and common rooms in apartments and suites. I would recommend the CCC to anyone who is having trouble finding a quiet, comfortable study location.
